Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a request and a reserve?: Requests are sent when books are returned over time. A reserve is sent as soon as a copy is available. What is a Has Had?: When items are sent to patrons they are added to a Has Had List to ensure against sending books previously read. In My Account patrons may view the list of books their Has Had List by date or by Author and Title. What is the difference between send now and send later?: Send now is handled like a reserve; item is sent as soon as a copy is available. Send later is handled like a request and books are sent from a request list when books are returned over time. What is an unordered series?: Some series do not require that the books be read in sequence. Perry Mason is a good example of an unordered series. Some series can be read either in order if a book is self-contained and doesn't depend on reading the previous one or the next one. The Little House series is an example of one that can be read either way. There is more availability of books when reading the series unordered; patrons can call their reader advisor to indicate their preference for a particular series. In the Advanced Search for reading level what is meant by lowest and highest?: Lowest Level in a reading level search indicates the lowest acceptable reading level to include in the search results. Highest level means the highest reading level to include in the search results. If the patron reads on a fourth grade level, the search results could include books from third to fifth grade level. If a patron enjoys reading the classics, the user could choose Young Adult for lowest level and Adult for highest. This will include the classics in the search results.
